SOLIDOL / 04 / Material
Two names, one important distinction
Fatty and synthetic refer to the thickener’s feedstock.
The historical labels Solidol Zh and Solidol S describe different origins of the fatty acids used for the soap thickener. They do not, by themselves, mean that one product contains a fully synthetic base oil. Both traditional families can use mineral base oil.
This small distinction prevents a large purchasing mistake. “Synthetic” on a historical grease name is not a promise of modern synthetic-oil performance. Read the full specification rather than transferring expectations from automotive engine oils.
Family names provide context; a current data sheet provides a decision. Check the exact grade, specification and application notes together. The comparison below is a reading aid, not a declaration that products are interchangeable.
