SOLIDOL / 01
The quiet layer that keeps the world moving
A small film. A very large mechanical difference.
A hinge is a conversation between two surfaces. Without a suitable lubricant, that conversation becomes heat, wear and noise. Solidol belongs to a familiar family of calcium greases: mineral oil held in a soap-based structure, designed for a particular range of working conditions.
Its appeal is practical rather than mysterious. A grease stays near a contact that would quickly lose a free-flowing oil. That makes the humble grease point a useful place to begin looking at a machine: what moves here, how quickly, under what load, and what keeps the lubricant in place?
This atlas follows those questions from the material to the mechanism. The name on a tin is only a starting point. The equipment manual and the exact product data sheet still decide whether a grease belongs in a specific assembly.
